Awards, reviews and comments from the Guest Book at 'Casa del Fiume'
Thank you for such a warm welcome! Having stayed in Tuscany for the previous week, we really prefer this area of Abruzzo - a taste of the real Italy! Wonderful unspoilt towns and countryside. Delicious food. Very friendly people. A very memorable holiday. We must return soon!

Thank you so very much! We had a lovely ten-day holiday. All your advice was precious and valuable. From our own 'finds' we would recommend 'Agritourismo Travaglini', where Signora Travaglini will treat you to what is currently in the garden. Check out Stew and Ruth's favourite beach - fantastic place....! And of course Grotto di Cavallone - breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you again, we are now in love with 'Casa del Fiume' and Abruzzo!

Lovely stay! Our highlights were an early morning walk up the spectacular gorge at Fara San Martino (don't be put off by the landslide debris), seeing the fabulous Roman ruins at Luvanum with no one else around, the mad trabocchi, the olive groves ......
Thanks so much to Stew and Ruth for the warmest of welcomes.

Lovely house, fantastic views and thanks for your generous hospitality. We have all had a memorable stay.
Highlights include: Pescocostanzo and Bosco di Sant'Antonio, the "Hollands-recommended-beach" and of course the festa in Civitella and Fabian's concert.
Oh and the 6 hour guided hike in the Majella mountains!

This house is spacious, cool and beautiful. The garden is idyllic - lying in a hammock by a mountain river, the butterflies. Ah, so memorable. The Holland family are the perfect hosts. Thank you seems inadequate. Loved it all.
Highlights - picnic on Doug's birthday, the Markets, Ruth's art, the nature, Fabian's music, the house and Stew's 'compo' look!

Loved the space of the house and gardens. Kids enjoyed the swing and table tennis. Highlights include - fantastic weather, the beach, the Grottoes, waterfall at Bocca di Valle, the gorge (La Gola) at Fara San Martino, and the views from La Maielletta - accessed via Pretoro. Fab.

This is a truly magical place to stay and we all loved every minute - the beautiful house, the garden, the sound of the Aventino, the mountains, perched villages, medieval castelli, summer festas and the sparkling Adriatic! The ice-cream wasn't bad either! Tuesday evening was a real treat - a visit to Lama to see Ruth's wonderful paintings and see Fabian "in concerto". Thank you for making us feel so totally welcome here. We hope to be back again soon.......

We just loved the house, it's cool spacious interior and wonderful bed linen! The river was a great source of pleasure for us all especially in the heat when we'd plunge in! Recommend 'La Torretta' restaurant at the lake and 'Tirasegna' in Lama - you should book. Emilia's pizze and pastries in Lama are wonderful and the Coal Supermarket has almost everything! Local cheese, ricotta, salami and lamb superb. Super greengrocer at Lama too, she is called Antonietta and speaks english!
Trabocchi coast is a dream as are the fish cafe's at San Vito, cheap and there is nothing fresher. Try the gelati at 'Copa d'Ora' at San Vito too. Guardiagrele has amazing food shopping and open on Sunday with a Market too! The scenery is stunning, the people warm, the food and wine exemplary. This unspoilt area offers so much we could stay another 2 weeks! Lanciano is beautiful, Market on a Saturday - take your camera! So many lovely ancient hill-top villages to marvel over ..... and of course thanks to Stew and Ruth for their warm and caring welcome and for being such an 'on-top' mine of information and advice, along with Ruth's smiles and Stew's humour, we bid you arriverderci!

Thanks Stew, Ruth and Fabian for a lovely holiday. We've enjoyed the house and all the places we've visited - followed up the tips and advice, but still haven't seen everything yet! Our own discoveries include the Nature Reserves at Serranella and Punto Aderci.
Oh, and the restaurant at Bocca di Valle is well worth a visit. All the very best.
